Why We Exist and Where We're Heading
Dear Readers, Authors, and Publishing Partners,
When we started Booknerds in 2015, we were two people who'd fallen in love with books and couldn't shake the feeling that something was broken in the industry we adored.
Readers were drowning in soulless recommendations. Authors were exhausting themselves trying to be heard. Publishers were clinging to outdated models. And the community, the beating heart that makes reading transformative, was fractured across a thousand disconnected spaces.
So we did what felt natural: we started building bridges.
Over the past decade, we've hosted over 150 offline book events, recorded over 300 podcast episodes, and worked with more than 500 authors. We've built a network of creators who genuinely care about books, not metrics. And somewhere along the way, we realized something: when you put authors and readers at the center, when you build with intention, magic happens. Real community forms. Trust deepens. Stories travel from one heart to another.
But the industry is changing at breakneck speed. BookTok and Bookstagram have proven that authentic voices matter more than marketing budgets. Authors are tired of being invisible. Readers are exhausted by algorithms that treat books like second-grade citizens. And in the middle of this chaos, there's an opportunity that makes our hearts race.
That's why we've reimagined everything.
Our revamped website (launching Christmas 2025) showcases the four pillars we've built: our Author Agency, our Creator Network, our Podcast, and the thing we're most excited about—our app.
We've been quietly building something for months that we believe will fundamentally shift how readers discover books and how authors connect with their people. In 2026, we're launching the app codenamed 'Maverick' (yes, we love Top Gun that much), and we genuinely believe it's going to feel like coming home to a place you didn't know you'd been searching for.
